In the flood…

Christ says, “Come to  me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28) NLT

Was he talking about after the flood or in the midst?

I am wondering how much we all carry? How many of you are feeling burdened? How many of you are weary? How many are caught in a do………. mentality? It’s easy to DO! You can DO it! You should be DO-ing it? How many have had someone feed you their to-DO list- for YOU!

Thank goodness this isn’t the gospel, it isn’t anywhere near the good news. The (Gospel) good news is Really Good news! It’s freeing! It’s life giving!!!!

I have a friend whom I deeply admire, when I ask him how he is doing, he says, “Plenty Weak, thank you.” I love that response! You see, he realizes in himself he doesn’t have the strength to be something or someone for Christ, he gets to just be. That is the good news. We don’t do for Christ- we are in Christ. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (first penned by the apostle Paul)-Galatians 2:20

When Christ says, “Come to me,” we get to go there, and then he says let me help you with this…there goes that piece of burden off your shoulder, let me take your To-do list, and don’t even think about doing someone else’s To-do list for you. I created you- and I tell you to be- I in you, you in me. He then takes this burden off your shoulder, and helps you take a deep breath and know- He is fully capable of carrying anything- your greatest freedom came once you believed.

This Flood- that Flood. We will always have floods and fillings in our life, but let us be sure we are listening to the one who gives Life- and when He does, He says, “it is Good!”
